Make Work Your Best Friend!

Why are people so caught up with looking for ways to become rich without having to work? Why are we amazed with those who claim that they got rich by being smart, and not by working hard?

Have you ever heard the great entrepreneurs like Jack Ma, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezo, Lance Gokongwei, Injap Yap, etc. say that they became rich while being lazy yet smart? No! Instead, they will tell you that they worked long hours to grow their business. But through experience, they became smarter and smarter, so they learned better ways to get more returns from the time and money they invested. They pride themselves at their willingness to do what is necessary to continue to succeed.

One of the important principles I learned from the book The Richest Man In Babylon is that we should make work our best friend. Because according to the book, only work can attract great wealth.

I have tried different investment schemes like stocks, mutual funds, time deposits, etc. While these instruments will help your money grow, I have found that it is faster to make money when you do business by working with the resources you have.

The Bible teaches that God channels His blessing through our work, and that work is an integral part of His design. We see this truth in creation! After He created man, He planted a garden for Adam in Genesis 2. In the garden, God told him to cultivate and keep it so that he may become fruitful. Since Adam only sinned in Genesis 3, then work is not part of God’s curse but of God’s plan.

If you want to become rich, you should accept the ways of the Lord. You should follow the counsel of the proverbs below, and learn to make work your best friend.

Proverbs 13:11 (NASB95): Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles, but the one who gathers by labor increases it.

Proverbs 14:23 (NASB95): In all labor there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Fruits are not meant to be kept, the plant uses them to bless those around it. Let's be like plants, share this message with those who may be blessed by it, especially your family and friends.
